Artistic DirectorPictureGary Holt

Gary was selected to serve as Artistic Director of SDGMC in 2010.  He was the Founding Artistic Director of GMCSD, and after taking a break for a few years he returned in 2005 to lead the Chorus once again.  Gary studied musical theatre at the Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan, and has sung under the batons of Aaron Copland, Margaret Hillis, Robert Shaw, and Thor Johnson.  In San Diego, Gary directed the acclaimed Diversionary Theatre production of Ten Percent Revue and co-starred in the San Diego Critics Circle award-winning production of Billy Bishop Goes to War at North Coast Repertory Theatre.  He has conducted numerous productions including The King and I, The Mikado, Celebration, Naughty Marietta, Lady Be Good, and The Pirates of Penzance.  Gary currently serves as Treasurer of the national Board of Directors of the Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses (GALA).  Formerly employed La Jolla Playhouse and the Old Globe Theatre, he is now an attorney with offices in San Diego and Palm Springs.

Executive DirectorPictureBen Cartwright

Ben was selected to serve as SDGMC's first Executive Director in May 2012, in order to manage the day-to-day administration, development, networking, and media relations and marketing efforts of the chorus. A San Diego native, Ben has been very active in the city’s LGBT community and has an extensive background in nonprofit administration. He received a master’s degree in Nonprofit Leadership & Management from the University of San Diego (USD) in 2011. Prior to joining the chorus, Ben volunteered for, served on the board of directors, and worked for numerous nonprofit organizations, using his talents to support community groups such as San Diego LGBT Pride, Stonewall Citizens Patrol, and the San Diego LGBT Community Center. Ben has also written for San Diego Gay & Lesbian News and San Diego PIX magazine and the former Gay & Lesbian Times and Update newspaper.

Administrative CoordinatorJose Navarro

Jose joined the SDGMC team in November 2012 as the Administrative Coordinator. Originally from New York City, Jose joined the U.S. Marines in 1996 and since then has also served in the U.S. Air Force with a combined total of 16 years of military service. Jose also has a passion for volunteering and service to include 5 years as a mentor in the San Diego Big Brothers Big Sisters mentorship program. Although not a singer, Jose does enjoy the San Diego Opera performances and has been attending SDGMC performances for the past several years.
