Bob Lehman

Executive DirectorBob has been a sponsor of the Chorus since 1998 and a singing member since 2011 as a baritone. He previously performed with the Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus where he was stationed as a Marine Corps recruiter following his time as an artillery sergeant in the Persian Gulf War. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Arts and Web Design from the Art Institute of California, San Diego. Bob currently serves on the Choral Consortium of San Diego Board of Directors and participates in many LGBT social, political and philanthropic organizations. He and his partner have championed marriage equality and made history as the first male couple to legally wed in California history.


RC Haus

Artistic Director
RC first began work with SDGMC as an assistant artistic director and led the group’s highly acclaimed ensemble group before becoming interim Artistic Director in January of 2014. He is presently Music Program Director for the Rancho Santa Fe School District and has more than 20 years of experience as an educator, musician and motivational speaker. He has five children and lives in San Diego.

Office Manager
SDGMC office manager, Angela Montague Kanish, has more than 17 years of experience in arts management. As associate director of education and outreach with San Diego Opera, Angela worked with hundreds of teachers and parents at Southern California schools, coordinated dozens of performing artists and artists-in-residence, trained and deployed 40 education volunteer docents and managed community events for education and outreach. Angela is a mezzo-soprano with a Bachelor of Music degree from Ithaca College and an MBA with a concentration in arts administration from Binghamton University. Angela manages what we call our “Ops” division, which consists of non-singing member volunteers. Our operations team helps with administrative items at rehearsal each week, collecting dues, providing music, selling concessions, and performing other administrative duties, such as the compilation of audience surveys.

Dr. Sidney Yin
President

Chinese-Canadian pianist Dr. Sidney Yin has taught at the world-renowned Juilliard School of New York and served as Professor of Keyboard Studies at Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland. Since moving from Baltimore in 2012, Sidney has been working for San Diego Youth Symphony and Conservatory (SDYS), the 6th oldest continuously operating youth symphony program in the United States. In addition to singing with the Chorus, Sidney has also been active as an accompanist for sectionals rehearsals and served on the development committee.

 

Andrew Glazebrook
Vice President

Andrew has been a member of the Chorus for more than four years and has served on the Chorus’s membership committee. He has extensive managerial and administrative skills, and presently serves as a program specialist for Covance Market Access in San Diego. He has also worked as a quality control manager and customer service supervisor. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Southern Indiana. His honors include the White Glove Customer Service Award and the Card Management Corporation Annual Performance of Excellence Award.


Kevin Filer

Treasurer

Kevin, a San Diego native, received degrees in Accounting from Point Loma Nazarene University and San Diego State University. He earned his CPA license and worked in the tax departments of the CPA firm KPMG Peat Marwick Main in San Diego and San Francisco. In January 1987, took a position in the tax department of Dole Food Company in the Los Angeles area. In 1996, due to illness, Kevin moved back to San Diego to be with family. In January 2000, he joined the Chorus and soon became baritone section manager, and subsequently, section leader. He was Treasurer of the Chorus from August 2004 to August 2008. He has been a member of the Finance Committee for the past two years.


Dean Akamine

Member at Large

Dean has his Bachelor of Business Administration from Golden Gate University
San Francisco, CA and his Associate of Science: Electronics Technology from Rogue Community College,
Grants Pass, OR. Dean, who sings in the Chorus, currently works at Qualcomm as a Staff Technical Writer. He currently manage and coordinate documentation planning and execution for mobile connectivity products with teams worldwide.

 

 

Alberto Bautista
Director of Diversity & Inclusion

Alberto is an Auditor Project Manager for Sempra Energy. He is responsible for managing audits in Latin America Assessing risks, reviewing with client’s findings, and reporting business controls in Spanish and English. Alberto has his Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Redlands and is Certified as Public Accountant in Mexico with his Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Accounting from the Universidad de Guadalajara. Alberto also serves as the co-chair of Sempra’s Diversity & Inclusion Council.


Matt Ferrer

Director of Technology

Matt is a long time friend of the Chorus and now serves as the Director of Technology. He holds a position as Senior Designer at a local digital agency and brings over 8 years experience in web design and digital marketing as well and in-depth interest in the world of tech. Matt also serves on the national board of directors for the National LGBTQ Task Force.

 

 

Jane Herrick
Director of Community Outreach
Jane has been a successful entrepreneur throughout much of her career and currently is the owner of Call Jane, an estate management and senior advocacy firm, based out of Cardiff-by-the-Sea, California. She previously owned and operated Jellybean Junction, a children’s clothing store located in Encinitas in addition to other businesses in the San Francisco Bay Area. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and has also studied advertising and business. A native Californian, Jane lives with her husband, Dennis, and actively volunteers within the community including past work with cancer patients and the visually impaired at Scripps Hospital.

 


Edwin Lohr

Member-at-Large
Edwin currently serves as the President of the board of directors of the North Park Community Association. Born and raised on a farm in Iowa. Edwin moved to San Diego in 1984. He is also a volunteer with American Veterans for Equal Rights, Stonewall Citizens Patrol, San Diego Professional Tour Guide Association and various other organizations in the area.

 

 


Don Palmer

Director of Membership

Don began his 20+ year tenure as a First Tenor singing with the San Diego Men’s Chorus in 1996. While with SDMC, Don served 2 terms as President of the Board of Directors. With SDGMC, he has served as First Tenor Section Manager as well as the Membership and GALA Committees. He brings over 25 years experience in customer service, human resources and business management experience to the table. Don considers his membership in the Chorus an extension of his family and proudly accepted the position of Director of Membership in the spring of 2016.

 

David Pierce
President Emeritus

David began singing with the men’s chorus in 1988 and was a member of the chorus’s board of directors in the early 1990s. He has more than 30 years of experience in nonprofit management and fundraising, having worked as director of development and executive director for a number of local nonprofit organizations. David has served as a board member of the local chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and on the faculty of UCSD’s fundraising certification program. He is a published author whose novel, Elf Child, was a finalist for a national Lambda Literary Award.
