David began singing with the men’s chorus in 1988 and was a member of the chorus’s board of directors in the early 1990s. He has more than 30 years of experience in nonprofit management and fundraising, having worked as director of development and executive director for a number of local nonprofit organizations. David has served as a board member of the local chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and on the faculty of UCSD’s fundraising certification program. He is a published author whose novel, Elf Child, was a finalist for a national Lambda Literary Award.
Chris holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of California. Chris is currently pursuing his MBA with a focus in Organizational Leadership. He currently works as a Project Manager for San Diego Gas & Electric for their Advanced Distribution Management System. Chris is an active member of the community as a singing member of the San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus, volunteer at Mama’s Kitchen, and participant and fundraiser for AIDS/LifeCycle to name a few.
Secretary and Director of Board Development
Andrew has been a member of the Chorus for more than four years and has served on the Chorus’s membership committee. He has extensive managerial and administrative skills, and presently serves as a program specialist for Covance Market Access in San Diego. He has also worked as a quality control manager and customer service supervisor. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Southern Indiana. His honors include the White Glove Customer Service Award and the Card Management Corporation Annual Performance of Excellence Award.
Kevin, a San Diego native, received degrees in Accounting from Point Loma Nazarene University and San Diego State University (Federal Taxation). He earned his CPA license and worked in the tax departments of the CPA firm KPMG Peat Marwick Main in San Diego and San Francisco. In January 1987, took a position in the tax department of Dole Food Company in the Los Angeles area. In 1996, due to illness, Kevin moved back to San Diego to be with family. In January 2000, he joined the Chorus and soon became baritone section manager, and subsequently, section leader. He was Treasurer of the Chorus from August 2004 to August 2008. He has been a member of the Finance Committee for the past two years.
Director of Membership
Don began his 20+ year tenure as a First Tenor singing with the San Diego Men’s Chorus in 1996. While with SDMC, Don served 2 terms as President of the Board of Directors. With SDGMC, he has served as First Tenor Section Manager as well as the Membership and GALA Committees. He brings over 25 years experience in customer service, human resources and business management experience to the table. Don considers his membership in the Chorus an extension of his family and proudly accepted the position of Director of Membership in the spring of 2016.
Director of Technology
Matt is a long time friend of the Chorus and now serves as the Director of Technology. He holds a position as Senior Designer at a local digital agency and brings over 8 years experience in web design and digital marketing as well and in-depth interest in the world of tech.
Member at Large
Jane has been a successful entrepreneur throughout much of her career and currently is the owner of Call Jane, an estate management and senior advocacy firm, based out of Cardiff-by-the-Sea, California. She previously owned and operated Jellybean Junction, a children’s clothing store located in Encinitas in addition to other businesses in the San Francisco Bay Area. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and has also studied advertising and business. A native Californian, Jane lives with her husband, Dennis, and actively volunteers within the community including past work with cancer patients and the visually impaired at Scripps Hospital.
Member at Large
Prabha currently works as a Health Planner for the San Diego HIV Health Services Planning Council as an employee of The LGBT Center. Originally from the East coast, she received her B.Sc. from the University of Maryland and is currently pursuing her Master of Public Health at National University. Prabha also volunteers for a UCSD health-research study observing AIDS, Tuberculosis and Hepatitis C among people who inject drugs in San Diego. Prabha is currently the Co-Chair for the Young Professionals Council and enjoys organizing events that foster community development. Prabha is also fluent in Hindi and looks forward to working with different community organizations in the near future.
Director of Operations
Anthony joined the operations team with the chorus in the fall of 2014. He was born and raised in the Chicagoland area. He graduated from Northern Illinois University with a bachelor degree in Rehabilitation Services. He has been a resident of San Diego since Summer 2012. Anthony has been working in the San Diego community with various organizations such as SD Pride, LGBT Community Center’s Young Professionals Council, San Diego Committee on Employment for People with Disabilities, SDWP’s Work Well San Diego initiative, and Deaf Community Services to empower and advocate for the LGBT and Disability communities. He is excited to now serve on the Board of Directors with chorus.
Bob has been a sponsor of the Chorus since 1998 and a singing member since 2011 as a baritone. He previously performed with the Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus where he was stationed as a Marine Corps recruiter following his time as an artillery sergeant in the Persian Gulf War. Bob currently serves on the Choral Consortium of San Diego Board of Directors and participates in many LGBT social, political and philanthropic organizations. He and his partner have championed marriage equality and made history as the first male couple to legally wed in California history.
RC first began work with SDGMC as an assistant artistic director and led the group’s highly acclaimed ensemble group before becoming interim Artistic Director in January of 2014. He is presently Music Program Director for the Rancho Santa Fe School District and has more than 20 years of experience as an educator, musician and motivational speaker. He has five children and lives in San Diego with his fiancé, Bryan Larsen.
Associate Artistic Director & Principal Accompanist
Steven began his association with the San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus in 1994. A San Diego native and graduate of Point Loma High School, he studied composition and piano performance at the University of Cincinnati’s College/Conservatory of Music (CCM). He has performed and music directed extensively on both coasts including at the Hollywood Bowl, Radio City Music Hall, ABC’s The View, La Jolla Playhouse, North Coast Repertory Theatre and The Old Globe. Steven is married to Marc d’Hondt, his life-partner since 1993.
SDGMC office manager, Angela Montague Kanish, has more than 17 years of experience in arts management. As associate director of education and outreach with San Diego Opera, Angela worked with hundreds of teachers and parents at Southern California schools, coordinated dozens of performing artists and artists-in-residence, trained and deployed 40 education volunteer docents and managed community events for education and outreach. Angela is a mezzo-soprano with a Bachelor of Music degree from Ithaca College and an MBA with a concentration in arts administration from Binghamton University. Angela manages what we call our “Ops” division, which consists of non-singing member volunteers. Our operations team helps with administrative items at rehearsal each week, collecting dues, providing music, selling concessions, and performing other administrative duties, such as the compilation of audience surveys.
